Dr. Cole provides expert witness and case review services for both plaintiff’s and defendant’s attorneys who are considering, actively pursuing, or responding to litigation. Dr. Cole is experienced in serving as an expert witness for civil matters, including informal pre-litigation case review, document review and report preparation in anticipation of litigation, and expert witness testimony. Dr. Cole has experience in cases related to standard of care violations, medical malpractice claims, and claims involving the care of patients in institutional settings (for example, boarding homes, adult daycare facilities, and inpatient psychiatric facilities). He currently serves as an expert panelist for the Texas Medical Board, reviewing complaints made to the Board for standard of care violations and referral for possible sanctions.
Dr. Cole provides expert witness services at a flat rate of $500/hour. No retainer is required, and you will be provided with an itemized invoice describing all time spent on your case, rounded to the nearest quarter hour, once all work is completed. If your case proceeds to trial or requires Dr. Cole to testify, travel expenses will be billed to your firm in addition to Dr. Cole’s usual hourly rate.
Prior to beginning work, Dr. Cole will speak with you about your case in a 30-minute confidential consultation for no charge. During this consultation, Dr. Cole will answer any questions you may have and discuss your case in as much detail as you feel comfortable sharing. The goal of this consultation is to ensure that Dr. Cole can provide the services that you are requesting, clarify the scope of work, ensure that there are no potential conflicts of interest, and, if details of your case are shared, ensure that Dr. Cole can support your legal position based on the information you provide. Dr. Cole can also provide an estimate for the amount of time required to complete the scope of your work.
